![]() Spencer's ostentatious - to the point of parody - tribute to the blues and classic rock is wearing thin. When Spencer sings about the serious stuff - marital discord, self-castigation, God - there is little, in the musical accompaniment, to distinguish the gravitas of such subject matters from Spencer's obviously playful, Elvis-like exhortations of "Come on now baby!" "Rock on!" and other such stock phrases. One searches in vain to isolate different musical textures in this album, which is as flat as the Great Plains. The result is an overwhelming sense that Spencer and Judah Bauer's guitar picks have lain rutted in the same place since the group emerged in the early '90s with what was, in the wake of grunge, a refreshingly nostalgic breath of up-tempo rock 'n' roll whisked through a modern effects processor.Ĭertainly the 12 songs on "Plastic Fang" are not lacking in craft everything clicks into place with the satisfaction of an easily assembled prefabricated model, which, of course, is the problem. ![]() This Review: 1.After a four-year respite, the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion has returned with their ninth album, appropriately christened "Plastic Fang." In accordance with the trio's previous efforts, the album is one prolonged exclamation of blunt guitar wailing. I have used Post Haste a couple of times, well others have used them to post me items. Last time the product didn't arrive at my house but was sitting at their base for 2 weeks. I rung them twice over a week and both times they said they would look into it and call me back within half an hour. Eventually after many phone calls I found the item was at their base. I went to Albany to pick it up and asked them what was going on. The lady who gave my package to me said she didn't know. No apology, No "I will find out what went wrong".just "I don't know". I will avoid buying items now when they use Post Haste for delivery. The last package came from overseas and I was asking for a refund from them because the package had not arrived. ![]() When they found a tracking number I was relieved and I apologised to them, however this did not speed up the delivery. This Review: 2.8/10 Staff: Service: Accuracy: Promptness: All up I must have called them eight times and several times they said that the rural deliver lady in my area had it however this was wrong, it never got past their base. Unfortunately I have to deal with Courier Companies as part of my job and I have to say Post Haste are the worst by far, about 1 in every 10 times an item is so delayed that 'Overnight' turns to over a week. It is routine to receive it a day or two after it should arrive, that seems to be normal and happens to me even more frequently, probably a quarter are delayed 1-2 days. If you contact their Customer Support they are friendly enough but seem to have no power to do anything and have no idea what is going on in the actual business. The best you will get is a reference for a complaint, but you will need to keep pushing and contacting them for any updates. Usually after days of emailing them the item will eventually turn up, with no apologies or anything. The Courier drivers also seem to be friendly and reasonably competent, I have no problems with them.
